Connect With The Outmate

News from The Outside

This really is the best book I've ever written and I am thrilled about it's upcoming release. In a way it is an end to a very special era with a very special someone, the real life inspiration for Nick Jessup. But you know I hate foreshadowing (not) so let's leave it at that!

I'm happy to say that the free Kindle promotion of The Outmate, in celebration of the release of the sequel, The Mastermind, was a huge, smashing success! Almost 500 copies were downloaded in about two days. Now of course, I would have preferred if they had been bought (a girl's gotta eat) however I LOVE knowing that my first and most special published baby is in the hands and heads of so many readers right now.

Thank you to everyone who downloaded The Outmate Kindle and please remember to leave feedback on Amazon for me! The free promotion is over, but both books are available in print and Kindle at the lowest possible price Amazon would allow me...

I knowwwww... I went over deadline again, but it's a short delay. The Mastermind will literally be out in a matter of days now.  I'm so very excited, it's a big, beautiful 303 pages with a gorgeous cover.

Three years of blood, sweat and tears went into each and every word, and if possible, this book means even more to me than my first, The Outmate. Throughout some really incedibly hard trials and tribulations I am so, so proud that I was able to hold onto the dream of finishing it, finally. There were lots of stops and starts in the writing of it, but in the end I perservered.

So, I send my second baby, sequel to The Outmate, into the world of readers and critics with great hope and pride. Thank you to everyone who contributed- especially my manager and best friend Roy- without whom I never could have made crunch time these last few days to ensure it went out. Thank you again my friend for all your hard work and patience.

Get ready! It's coming!!!!

It's been a long time since I last posted to my blog- in fact the site was down for some time as I grappled with illness and family disasters. However I'm back now, and this time can say with assurance that The Mastermind will be released in February of 2017. It's all ready to go, the website is up and rebuilt, and I'm extremely excited.

I'm also happy to tell you that work has begun on the third novel in the trilogy, The Sea Wolf. I've already got it all mapped out in my head and have begun writing. An author's work is never done!

So for those of you who still haven't read The Outmate, I urge you to get on it by going to Amazon and ordering it here. That way when The Mastermind comes out, you will be up to speed on Chrissie's mad adventures.

Happy New Year to you all, and remember: Embrace Your Demons!

Believe it or not, readers, despite all the craziness that has gone on for me in the last few months, I AM on track for September release of The Mastermind, the second novel in The Outmate Trilogy.

I know, I know... I've been promising you this for a while. I've missed my deadline and there will be a delay for at least a few more months. The good news is The Mastermind, sequel to The Outmate, is completely edited and finished. It's just a matter of going through the publishing process now; putting the finishing touches on the cover, formatting the interior, writing the blurb for the back, etc etc. (I am also waiting on the proof of copyright to come through). So I PROMISE. Only a few more months. Thank you for your patience.

We are coming down to the wire again, readers. I'm doing my best to have "The Mastermind" out to you in fifteen days, however Nick is working against me, constantly bombarding me with new material.

It's been a long time since I posted- sorry but I've been rather ill and am just starting to recover. Which is a relief because I was getting sick and tired of being sick and tired. However, I do have good news for you. As you might have seen, the trailer for the sequel to The Outmate is now up on the website. Its called The Mastermind, and I am thrilled to say it's almost completed. I am planning on a late September release in 2014.

I just wanted to share the reviews that The Outmate has collected since it was launched in September. I feel really good about where it's going and how it's been received by readers. I'm in the midst of a radio/internet campaign right now and will post each interview as I have them. The very first one is already on the press/reviews page and I have many more to come. It's very exciting to watch this unfold and be a part of it- and I'm so proud of my little book so far. (Okay fine it's not little it's 400 pages)

Well, I just did my first live radio interview. I have to tell you, I was frightened out of my wits for days beforehand and I seriously considered calling it off. I woke up at two a.m. the day of the interview with massive panic attacks. I spent the next several hours pacing, crying, and trying to meditate. I had all my notes ready and kept shuffling through them nervously talking to myself out loud, trying to prepare.

Hello Readers,

We are now on the eve of the release of The Outmate. In reality, all that is between me being a published author and my novel being available for sale is one tiny, inconsequential little "accept" button. All else is ready.  So I am taking a moment to reflect on what a wild ride it was... the years of passionate writing, the dedicated editing, the dedicated marketing, the hours and hours I put into making this all happen from the website development to the Facebook page to the press release; they have become markers of who I am and my determination as a writer and a human being.

Well, I now have the first ever printed proof of The Outmate in my hands. It's beautiful! I have to say, it's one of the happiest moments of my life to hold three years of hard work made tangible between a glossy cover. Until now, it didn't seem quite real to me.

It's real now.

The Outmate is now a finished product, and has been handed over to publisher for good. No more tweaking, no more plot changes, no more obsessing over every sentence. Well. That's not true. I'm still obsessing. However it's now out of my hands, and I'm made a stern rule for myself that I will not re-read it any more until it's out in print. Maybe not even then. After three years the story is ingrained in my mind and has become a part of me. Now I need to let it go out into the world. I feel rather like a mom putting her kid on the bus for the first day of school. Although really, making the comparison of mom/kid to Chrissie/Nick... not so much. All I can say is, get ready world. This isn't your mother's romance novel.

Well, we're right on track for publication by September 1. The second round of edits has come back to me, and I'm all over it. It feels good to be writing again. During the weeks that The Outmate was out of my hands, I was so restless. I started writing the second book of the trilogy, The Mastermind, however it's not the same. I need to finish this one before my energy transfers completely to the second.

After much number crunching and calendar assessment, I've decided that the actual release of The Outmate to the public sadly has to be pushed back a couple of months until September 1. There is just too much to do and too many variables at this stage with bringing the book to the printed page. I could cut a lot of corners and get it to you faster, however the overall packaging of the novel would suffer as a result, and I want to make sure you have the best possible finished product I can produce. It's only two months more, and then I know I can make the deadline I'm setting for myself, and not disappoint all of you.

I'm very excited to say that the book trailer for The Outmate went live today on Youtube.com! I can't help playing it over and over to the great annoyance of my cat, but the music is just so catchy I can't help myself. Yes, I will admit head banging like a total fool at the end of the video. I think the trailer has captured the essence of the book well- it's fast paced, edgy, dangerous, and sexy.  It also perfectly portrays Chrissie's desperation and determination to free the man she loves at any cost.

Three days ago I began developing this website. I celebrated the finish of my first draft of "The Outmate" approximately two weeks ago. It took me two years to write due to the fact that I do have a day job, and a very taxing one at that. I sat scribbling in the dark many a night after hours or on weekends driving everyone I knew crazy because I was such a hermit. I was always sleepy, often bleary eyed, and at times downright cranky. Except when I was writing. Then, I was in heaven.
